    Flow Assurance Engineer - Scotland

    As part of ongoing growth there is an opportunity for a flow assurance engineer to join the process and safety team where you will be responsible for solving operational challenges and developing new fields to meet our future energy requirements.

    At Apollo, flow assurance engineering is a multi-skilled role.

    The ideal candidate is expected to have a balanced range of advanced experience in traditional flow assurance (OLGA etc.) but also have exposure to other related disciplines (e.g. process, CFD analysis). These skills are essential to allow the candidate to support Apollo’s projects from the Appraise/Select phase through to Detailed Design and also including debottlenecking and optimisation.

    You will provide support to the growing business and will be expected to carry out a range of engineering design and analysis work from classical hand calculations to advanced analysis techniques.

    Location is flexible.

     

    Responsibilities and duties:

    • Undertaking projects utilising flow assurance software and hand calculations;
    • Executing duties in compliance with applicable legislation, codes, standards, and Apollo’s quality control and administration procedures;
    • Acting as project engineering lead where directed, managing the work of project teams and self to deliver work on time, on budget and to a suitable quality standard;
    • Reporting to and meeting clients and other interested parties as required;
    • Supporting business development activities including sales presentations, meetings, events, proposals and tendering;
    • Representing the Apollo brand positively through personal manner, attitude and appearance;
    • Any other delegated content as reasonably instructed by the line manager (Process and Safety manager).

    Essential Qualifications and skills:

    • Degree qualified in chemical, fluid mechanics or other engineering related course;
    • Hands on experience using advanced flow assurance software such as Pipesim and OLGA;
    • Experience in carrying out a range of fluid flow and thermal related problems e.g. steady state and transient pipeline activities, separation, multiphase, thermal/radiation, dispersion, vibration etc;
    • Hands on experience in deriving engineering solutions as part of multi-disciplinary projects;
    • Problem solving aptitudes: able to apply to new situations and to think from first principles;
    • Communication skills: report writing, expression of engineering ideas in calculations, presentation skills, verbal communications generally;
    • Project management: experience in organising work;

    Desirable skills:

    • Operational experience;
    • Experience in related work scopes such as CFD analysis and/or process engineering;
    • Working knowledge of office software tools (MS Office suite, Adobe Acrobat, etc.);
    • Chartered engineer or working towards chartership
