Summer Placement Student – Data Engineer – Apollo Aberdeen

Apollo has the opportunity for a Data Engineer Summer Placement Student to join our team in our central Aberdeen offices for a 6–8-week period. The position will be to assist with analysing and developing data visualisation applications to support business functions. Critically evaluate the company data and data capture procedures to help improve data insights.

Duties:

• Extract and clean data from company database
• Interface with engineering departments for:
  • data understanding
  • visualisation design feedback
• Data visualisation design and creation (either power Bi or standalone web app)
• Data review

Essential qualifications and skills:

• 3^rd or 4^th year student studying Data Science or Software Engineering with Analytics, or an engineering degree with experience of data analytics.
• Proficient in a programming language; preferably Python.
• Experience working with relational databases (i.e. SQL).
• Data visualisation / dashboarding experience.
• PowerBI experience.

Desirable skills:

• Knowledge with the following Python packages:
  • Pandas
  • SQLAlchemy
  • Plotly
• Familiar with object relational mappings (ORM) (i.e. SQLAlchemy).
• Experience with database design, and working with relationships.
• Experience with Azure and Azure SQL.
• Experience with PowerApps.
